Biathletes Bag Bronze in Canmore

Biathlon Yukon’s Velocity Squad was as fast as ever, with some sharpshooting to boot, over the weekend.
Yukoners captured three bronze medals and posted numerous top-10 finishes at the NorAm/Calforex Cup No. 1 in Canmore, Alta.
Whitehorse’s Emma Marnik, who claimed bronze in both of her races, didn’t expect to climb the podium both days.

Monsoon doesn't deter Yukon Biathletes

Biathlon Yukon’s Velocity Squad slogged through a “monsoon” to win nine medals in Whistler, B.C., last weekend.
Fifteen local athletes made the trip for the B.C. Cup event held at the Whistler Olympic Park, which saw some abysmal weather Saturday. Rain poured over the course, forcing officials and coaches to break out umbrellas as the sprint races went on.

Sharp Shooting Biathletes Win 9 Medals at BC Cup

You can’t practise skiing without snow, but you can practise shooting.
Biathlon Yukon has taken that idea and run with it, getting members of its Velocity Squad to practise at the range during the off season. The results were showing this past weekend.
Members of the Velocity Squad captured nine medals with some keen shooting at the B.C. Cup #2 over the weekend in Whistler.

Biathlon Popular Again....

With 42 competitors hitting the trails for the Biathlon Yukon championships last weekend, it’s safe to say the sport is making a comeback.
Club president Bill Curtis said he believes the field was the largest in the club’s history.
“Success by our athletes gets the sport a little more publicity, which gets people interested,” he told the Star.
